Kang Jin-sung had an unforgettable year last 2020 season.

As a member of the NC Dinos, he had a batting average of 0.309 (122 hits in 395 times at bat) and 12 homers, 70 RBIs and nine steals (OPS) of 0.814. He displayed outstanding performance as a key player and contributed greatly to his team's first overall win.

Since then, Kang has not been able to continue his trend. In the following year, he recorded a batting average of 0.249 (101 hits in 406) with seven homers, 38 RBIs and nine steals in 124 games, and joined the Doosan Bears as a compensation for outfielder Park Kun-woo, who moved to the NC Dinosaurs as an FA after the end of the season.

In 2022, the first year after moving to Doosan, he had a batting average of 0.163 (13 hits in 80 at-bats), one home run, eight RBIs, and four steals in 40 games, and he changed his uniform once again after being traded one-on-one with SSG pitcher Jungwoo Kim in the middle of the 2023 season. Last year at SSG, he had to leave the team after batting .185 (5 hits in 27 at-bats) with a two-run OPS of 0.452 in 16 games. 

"It's motivating. I don't know how the camp will go, but I'm going to work hard on what I'm given," said Kang Jin-sung, who is starting anew in Kiwoom. "The competition was the same for NC, Tucson, and SSG. I don't want to think too much about that. I just think about how I can do better, and I'm going to build myself up with the idea of upgrading from camp."

What Kang wants is to regain his confidence when he was good in the past. "It was better than how I did it, and I want to find confidence when I did well," he said. "I'm not a home run hitter. As a medium and long-distance hitter, I think the team will want to hit a timely hit when a pinch hitter is needed. I'm going to take the batter's box with a swing that suits my position."

Regarding the goals of the upcoming 2025 season, Kang Jin-sung said, "I want to enter the first team entry somehow and play about 100 games from the beginning to the end of the season. If I do what I have prepared well, I want to set a goal of 100 hits and 15 home runs."
